Welcome to the Computer Centre – Powering the Digital Backbone of Manipur University

Introduction

Established in the year 1985, the Computer Centre of Manipur University serves as the nucleus of the University's digital and ICT operations. It operates under the guidance of the Systems Manager, supported by a skilled team comprising one Systems Engineer, two Programmers, and six dedicated support staff.

University Network Infrastructure

The University boasts a modern, high-performance network infrastructure with a 1 Gbps Optical Fiber Backbone connecting all Faculties, Departments, and Centres. Integration with the National Knowledge Network (NKN) facilitates seamless collaboration and resource sharing with premier institutions across India.

Campus Wi-Fi

Enabled under the MHRD Campus Wi-Fi Project, the University campus features robust wireless connectivity with high-speed access points, routers, and switching devices. Managed by RailTel Corporation of India Ltd., the system supports over 5,000 users including students, faculty, and administrative staff, with onsite technical support ensuring uninterrupted service.

CCTV Surveillance

The University has implemented a comprehensive IP-based CCTV surveillance system covering key outdoor locations across campus. The centralized monitoring and recording facility is housed within the Computer Centre to enhance campus safety and security.

Facilities

The Centre includes a fully equipped classroom-cum-computer laboratory with 30 modern PCs, providing a conducive environment for hands-on training, workshops, and digital learning.

Core Functions

The Computer Centre plays a vital role in the digitalization of University processes across administration, academics, finance, and examinations. It actively supports the implementation of the Samarth Project, a University Information Management initiative under the Ministry of Education (MoE), streamlining operations and improving service delivery.
